Thursday, May 14 Seminars
Creation & Evolution, Dr. Charles Lee
We live in a time where evolution is viewed not so much as a theory but as a fact, and if anyone dares to question it, they are persecuted, ridiculed, and ostracized. This seminar looks at theory of evolution logically, scientifically, mathematically, and biblically to show why evolution is one of the greatest hoaxes contrived in modern history. If evolution is not the answer, then there is only one other alternative. Come and be equipped to give an answer.
Designing Worship, Rev. Ray Park
God is the one who initiates a relationship with us and we should genuinely respond to Him in worship! In this seminar, Rev. Ray Park will talk about the theology of worship as well as practical ways to enhance our personal and corporate worship. The seminar will discuss how we can use different resources, talents and creativity to improve our worship. Special emphasis will be given to the usage of music in worship.
Heart Motives, Dr. Sang Caleb Kim
"All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD" (Proverbs 16:2). What makes us get angry, frustrated, or depressed? Why are we drawn to certain people but can't seem to "click" with others? Why do some memories linger for years when others are forgotten in a moment? The revolutionary heart motive system will address these questions and help us get to the heart of every matter.
Knowing God’s Will, Rev. Paul Chi
Children are often asked this question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Over the years, this fun question can develop into quite a confusing dilemma. As we approach our young adult years, we are filled with questions like, "What career path should I follow?" "Who should I marry?" "Where should I live?" "Do I have any real choices in my life or is it all just destiny?" In this seminar, Rev. Paul will offer both biblical perspective and practical insights on this important topic of knowing God's will.
Transforming Leadership, Rev. Matt Ro
As Christians, all of us are called to be leaders at one time or another in our lives. We will either be leading a small group, leading our family, our children, leading a group of workers in the marketplace or leading in our community. We need to know what it takes to be a true biblical leader in a world filled with mediocre, unprincipled examples of leadership. With the Gospel and principles from the Word, we can be revolutionary people who make a difference in our callings and transform the world for the glory of God.
Friday, May 15 Seminars
Preaching, Rev. Jung Lee (Only offered once)
For those who have been given the opportunity to preach at your church or fellowship or for those who plan to enter the preaching ministry in the future, this seminar will help to understand what preaching is, the components of a sermon and the process of actually preparing a sermon.
Preparation for the Marketplace, Pastor Reggie Ramos
Work. It's where most of us will spend the best of our time and energy. And although we allow the Gospel to penetrate our family life, our social calendar, and even our finances, we often struggle to understand how the Gospel ought to impact our work. In fact, for many Christians, work degenerates into a "necessary evil" -- something to be endured to pay the bills. In this seminar, we will seek to answer questions such as "Why does my work matter?", "How does my work relate to God?", "How can I put my faith into practice in the workplace?", and "How can I redeem the time I spend at work?"
Small Group Leadership, Rev. Jung Lee (Only offered once)
So your group or your church has small groups. Maybe you've even been asked to lead one or are leading one. Have you ever thought, "What is the purpose of small groups?" or even "How do small groups differ from other types of groups?" Pastor Jung Lee will discuss essential elements to having Christ-centered and God-honoring small groups.
Stewardship & Giving, Dr. Sang Caleb Kim
Are worldly possessions good or bad? Is it wrong to make a lot of money? What should I spend it on? Do I have to give tithe and offering? What about donating to missions? These are important questions, especially during this time of job insecurity and financial hardships. We are bombarded daily with a variety of opinions on what we should do with our money. So how do we respond to the words of Jesus: "No one can serve two masters... both God and money"? What should be our attitude be towards this important topc? In this seminar, Dr. Kim will share, through personal testimony and the Scripture, practical answers to these questions and will tackle the tough issue of what our "stuff" has to do with the glory of God.
Teach Us to Pray, Pastor Jong Park
As Christians, very few of us need to be persuaded on the importance of prayer. The real issue is how can we develop a life of prayer? Luke 11 offers some insight into this question. After overhearing Jesus' prayers, "one of the disciples said to Him, 'Lord, teach us to pray.'" These were not irreligious men, unfamiliar with the sound of proper Jewish prayers. But there was something different about the way Jesus prayed, something so authentic and compelling, that his men asked him, "teach us to pray like that!" In this seminar, we will sit under Christ's timeless Word and observe His exemplary prayer life. We will also take a peek into the lives of prayer warriors, both living and dead. Finally, we will discuss some practical ways to help us to pray.
The Calling-Oriented Life, Rev. John Chong
When asked about their calling, what comes to mind for many people are different occupations like a teacher, engineer, missionary or whatever it is that they are or want to become. Though our occupation is a part of God’s calling upon our lives, it is far from the complete picture of what a Calling-Oriented life is. There is obviously more to our lives than work. We are also called to serve our families as faithful spouses, parents, and children. And of course, we are called to serve faithfully as members of our local church.
As Christians, our goal is to be faithful to God in our callings. But with so many voices telling us what to do, how do we make the right choices? And often the path of faithfulness is so difficult that many want to abandon it. How do we stay the course? This seminar will give us a comprehensively look at calling as defined by Scripture. And it will give us a framework for how to live our lives faithfully to the end.
